Happy Birthday Shannan! I turned 33 this month. My birthday landed on a challenging day but I am grateful for the emails, phone calls, and gifts to brighten my day. This cake was made by my friend Kathy and boy was it delicious!

One of our coldest days in Houston, we needed hats, gloves and scarfs! We just needed some snow! Alexa is all bundled up for preschool. This was the first scarf that I made her and she was thrilled.

These are two success that we had in our garden this month. Here is our first night of brocolli (We were so excited to eat our brocolli 3 or 4 times this month) And Davis has our first carrot from our garden!




















Alexa loves to go on 'Adventures' her favorite spot is our Bayou by our house. We ride our bikes down there and she loves to walk across the water on the rocks back and forth!







































Happy Valentines' Day! We had a great evening together. The girls just love these holidays. Alexa created her own Valentines' outfit and Kasidee had the perfect shirt for today. I tried to make a special dinner of slppy joes. Alexa enjoys making the table look special on holidays.





Alexa received a sweet card from our Mail Carrier Ms. Pauline! She is so thoughtful and Alexa loved her card.









Western Day at Preschool! Alexa had a great time. She just loves these special days.



















We had a fun weekend camping with our ward. It is a great tradition each year and our girls just love it. Alexa was packed for 2 days. She did a great job. She had stuffed animals, shirts and pants! It is fun to see her so excited to go camping. She'd been counting down for 2 months and practiced making pretend fires in the yard. (:

January 2011

Here are a few pictures of our month. I realized I didn't take very many pictures this month. Alexa and I spent a lot of time together since she only was in preschool a few times (she attends at the high school and they had finals this month.)















Alexa learned about Valentines this month and so she wanted to draw a huge Valentine Card on the driveway.
























After watching Ramona and Beezus, Alexa wanted to make the 'longest' picture! We made 2 this month, this was our first.

Gymnastics is a 'love/hate' relationship with Alexa. She's been in gymnastics since the summer. I love watching her learn and get better. She is getting really good with cartwheels, back bends, bars, and the balance beam. She is working on her backwards somersault


















We had a great time seeing Patricia Chu Klapp and her husband Guido. Davis grew up with Patricia. They are moving to San Diego (right in the same area I served in, in University City! So fun to hear the names of the streets I drove for 9 months of my mission) and had a party at their home. We showed up at the perfect time because both Corey and their friend Omar from H.S were there too. I am grateful I've gotten to know these wonderful people Davis grew up with.

Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve was just a wonderful evening. We got together with our friends the Mahana's (the same family we went to the movies with in our PJ's!) for a wonderful dinner, Christmas Program, and Cereal/Candy White Elephant Gift Exchange. My parents came and also Ritchie and Lindsay. Jessica was the 'Star' of the evening. She was the 'Star' while the kids acted out the Nativity. It was just the cutest thing.

Mom had just had surgery the day before Christmas Eve, she was one sore cookie but we are glad she could make it for the evening.

Christmas Break Activities

Our Girls Love Santa!



We were able to ride a camel as a family in December at our Subdivision's Christmas Party. It was a pretty bumpy ride!

Tristan came home for about 2 weeks during the break and while he was here we decided to join our friends in their tradition of going to the movies in theirPJ's before Christmas each year. We had a great time! We went to see the new Narnia movie: The Dawn Treader.



After Christmas we decided to go to the Houston Children's Museum. The girls had a great time climbing, pretending, and creating!





We also took a trip to the zoo with Shannan's cousin Kim Dewey and her family. It was so great for them to come down and visit us. Alexa and Raine loved playing together and Kasidee loved being with Carter!




Alexa made a new friend this Season, Pauline our mail carrier. Alexa started talking to her about a month or so ago and each time she came around she enjoyed talking with her and then she loved to leave her 'cards' in the mailbox. Pauline dropped off a sweet present for Alexa right before Christmas, her first Build-a-Bear Alexis! It was a really special present.



Davis worked on several home improvement projects over the break... He painted the trim of 2 bedrooms, did some work in the attic and dug up half the plants and replanted them with special soil to help them grow better. We are grateful for his work!

Our big Christmas gift to each other was hiring out for hardwood floors in our dinning room! We are so excited to have wood floors in there now instead of carpet. I'll post a picture soon, I forgot to take one (:

November's Blessing

We were really touched by the blessings that our girls' shared with us this Thanksgiving as to what they were thankful for:
Alexa: 'Thankful for Mommy, Daddy, and whole family, for flowers, butterflies, for turkey, for Heavenly Father and Jesus...'

Kasidee: "My friends- Sara Marin is my best friend because she listens to me when I need to be listened to and she helps me. The Temple because I can feel the Holy Ghost and help those who have died. Our neighborhood because it is a safe and fun place to be and live. And books because they take me to far away places that I normally wouldn't go to unless I read that book"

Unfortunately I forgot my camera for a lot of our activities this month! Davis took some time off and we had a great break that included a trip to the zoo, kite flying (we were in the low 80's for most of the week with a great wind!), bike riding, Christmas Decorating, and a great Thanksgiving Day with some friends of ours. Kasidee's comment at the end of her week off of school, "Wow, this week really went by fast!"


Alexa loves playing in the mud and dirt, this is a mud pie she made at the park this month!


Alexa's picture day at Preschool, she let me curl her hair and I think she actually kept in her hair accessories for the the pictures!


We had a fun trip to the zoo this month! We all got to see a newborn elephant!

October 2010

This is my last picture with my first car. We sold it to Davis' parents for their mission in Hawaii. I had this car for 12 years! Great car!




















Alexa turned 5 this month! We had 2 families over and Grandparents to help her celebrate her special day. She has been playing soccer this month and has moved up in her Gymnastics to be in the 5 year old class. She is now learning all sorts of new techniques. She told me the other day, "Mom I have 3 talents. 1. I can pour water (from the big water pitcher) 2. riding my bike, 3. Gymnastics.






















Alexa with her Grandparents. She received such a fun pillow and skirt for her birthday. They just left on their second mission for our church. They'll be serving in Hawaii for 18 months.

Alexa started Preschool this month at our High School. Her famous line is, "My dream has come true!" Starting school was her dream. This was her first day of school













Our Church Trunk or Treat












We celebrated Halloween on the 30th and one our fun activities was going to the Car show to see Grandpa and his car and to trick or treat there. Kasidee had a great time passing out the candy to the kids and Alexa enjoyed sitting in Grandpa's car and playing with his Halloween decorations!
